Level 2 in South Africa: Level 2 lockdown will bring about a number of changes to the current regulations that are in place. We look at cigarette ban, alcohol, retailing, mining, manufacturing, gym and fitness businesses, inter provincial travel, domestic workers and the airline industry.
South Africans can expect the following changes to the way they have been living:
Inter provincial travel on level 2
Travelling between provinces is allowed during lockdown level 2 without the need for documentation.
Gym and fitness centres during level 2
Gym and fitness centres will open during level 2 subject to regulations such as social distancing and disinfecting gym equipment.
Cigarette ban during level 2
Level 2 could result in the lifting of the cigarette ban in South Africa.
Construction businesses
Private residential construction business will be allowed to resume during level 2 in South Africa.
Retailers will operate on improved conditions
Retailers will be allowed to operate normally if they are Covid-19 compliant in terms of testing, screening and hygienic requirements.
Alcohol restrictions on level 2
You could be allowed to purchase alcohol any day. Current restrictions allow the purchase of liqour from Monday to Thursday only.
Real estate operations during level 2
Real estate agents and businesses will operate normally without restriction
Airline industry
More people will fly during level 2. The airline will be required to implement changes to observe the Covid-19 safety requirements.
Mining businesses
Mining businesses will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity with no restrictions. Employment will be allowed to be 100%.
More hotels will open during level 2
Hotels and Bed and Breakfast (BB) facilities will be allowed to operate
Manufacturing businesses
Manufacturing companies will be allowed to operate at 100% capacity. All employees will be wt work
Domestic workers, maids, gardeners during level 2
Domestic and maintenance workers will be allowed to work during lockdown level 2
