Former Gomora actress Buhle ‘Ama Qamata’ met with her onset grandmother Mam Sonto ‘Connie Chiume’ for the first time since she left the show. Buhle’s story on the show remains one of the most touching storylines from Gomora. For a very long time, Buhle has been the household name in Gomora since her disappearance and her death. Buhle’s case remained in the show despite leaving Gomora, and the wounds she went on the Mofele family and Gomora High is deep.
On her last shoot with Gomora at the rank, Ama broke into tears, and so was many of her workmates and fans. For a long time, Ama had formed strong relationships with the Gomora cast, and it seemed that it was there to stay. For Buhle, Gomora will always be family, and it’s clear to see from the joy she had when she saw Mam Sonto. Interestingly, it’s not only Connie and Ama who enjoyed the meeting. Many of Ama’s siblings also enjoyed meeting a living legend like Connie Chiume.

After leaving Gomora, Ama Qamata went outside the country to Rwanda, where she spent two months. Ama had been shooting for a movie. This meant that Ama had not enough time to say her goodbyes, and she had been missing her Gomora family. Upon returning from Rwanda, Ama decided to take her young siblings to watch The Woman King, where they met Sonto.
Surrounded by happy young kids, Connie had no words to say but to smile as she felt their love. On the other side, Ama and her siblings looked so happy as they shouted to the camera together with Sonto. When she bade farewell, Buhle said that the Gomora’s cast, crew and producers have been like a family to her. This is true; she showed it when she met with Mam Sonto.

Ama Qamata exploring new avenues after leaving Gomora
Unlike many actors who struggle after losing the roles that made them famous, Ama is the opposite. It seemed that her position on Gomora opened many avenues for her. It even seemed that Ama had many jobs waiting for her when she left Gomora. After gaining so much Gomora experience, Ama is now going into movies and films.
Now that she is back in South Africa, Ama will get some rest, but rumours are that many drama series are after her services. Probably we shall be seeing her soon.
