Young Durban Gen actor Lukhona Mpopoma who takes on the role of Lindo, is one of the child actors who have debuted their careers in the medical drama series. The young actor has been in the headlines since he debuted his role earlier this year, and recently he got to share with Savanna news about his life before and after he landed his position on the show. As part of his tell it, the actor shared with us how he landed his role on the show as he sang praises for the show’s producer.
Lukhona Mpopoma is a familiar face on Durban Gen as he joined the cast a few months ago in a mountain scene where his brother was injured playing Ntando. The two were helped by Dr Zulu, played by Mike Ndlangamandla, and a paramedic Thembinator played by Sibongokuhle Nkosi. They were flown off by a helicopter to get medical attention before the medical practitioners went to attend Sne and Dr Dhlomo’s wedding.
How did Lukhona Mpopoma land her role in Durban Gen?
Lukhona, when he shared his experience and breakthrough in the entertainment industry, said he had his first audition in January 2022. He went to KwaMashu at K-Cap, where he auditioned for Blackbrain pictures. They held auditions for The Black door and Diepcity, but he was unsuccessful and left the auditions heartbroken. The actor shared that on his way home with his mother, he wanted to cry and even give up on his acting dream.
However, good news came to him a week after the auditions when he received a call from Durban Gen Producer Ms Thibedi that the show was looking for a 16-year-old. Lukhona sent a Self Tape and got a call back after two days with the news that he would be playing the role of Ntando. However, when he got to the set, the showrunners changed his position from Ntando to the leading character of Lindo, who is Dr Zulu’s son.
