South African rapper Rikhado Makhado famously known as Ricky Rick, has been honoured on a world stage as the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards have given him the Global Visionary Award. The rapper who passed on earlier this year is known as a fashion icon, rapper and entrepreneur who brought about change in the South African industry. Because of the lives he has touched and the footprint he has left, Ricky Rick has been honoured even in death by the world he left behind.
Ricky Rick’s 2022 BET Hip Hop Award
Taking to their Instagram, BET Africa announced that in the upcoming Award show, the late Ricky Rick would be honoured with the Global Visionary Award for this year’s Award show. The Award is given to artists recognized as global champions of culture who made efforts to expand hip hop on the World Stage.

Ricky Rick had a voice which created change and earned him recognition as a creative who left a mark on the global music scene. The family received the Award he left behind, and in her speech, Bianca Naidoo, his wife, stated that as Ricky Rick’s family, they are honoured to receive the prestigious Award on his behalf. She says that the Award honours the rapper’s work and name, and she is proud of the work and positive impact Ricky Rick had in the entertainment industry.
Fans are excited about the International recognition.
In the comment section, Ricky Rick’s friends in the industry and fans said their congratulations and praised his work while he was still alive. The Boss Zonke rapper was also given the Fashion Icon Award by GQ Magazine last month. Many artists at Music Award shows from many parts of the world also dedicated Awards to the late rapper this year.
Ricky Rick’s thoughts on the BET Awards
The rapper once voiced his opinion on the Award show that has given him this prestigious Award. In 2015, the rapper said that the BET Awards are biased after Wales and J Cole walked away without Awards after releasing great projects. He questioned if the local Awards are the same as the international ones.
