Despite Gomora being one of the low-budget telenovelas in South Africa, the showrunners are digging deep into their pockets to reward their stars handsomely. Gomora couple Bongani (Thulani Mtsweni) and Zodwa (Sannah Mchunu) have been stealing Gomora’s show with outstanding acting skills. The couple is nailing their characters, making Mzansi interested to know how much they are getting paid monthly.
On Gomora, Bongani and Zodwa are engaged and cohabiting like husband and wife in a shack. The couple struggled to make ends meet when Bongani was fired from his job at a Shisanyama; they devised a plan B and opened a Tuckshop at Gomora High. As of late, they can pay their bills without borrowing, and their son Teddy recently found a job as a taxi driver and is helping with the bills.
Zodwa and Bongani’s storyline is undoubtedly why Gomora has a massive following, as the couple reflects the day-to-day life of many people in Mzansi. The couple also faced challenges when Mr Leballo rapped their daughter Sbosh, and the Gomora community questioned their parenting skills. Still, they gave a deaf ear to them and supported their daughter.
Salaries of Bongani’ Thulani Mtsweni’ and Zodwa’ Sannah Mchunu’
Although Bongani and Zodwa play a happy couple on Gomora, their wages are not the same.
Sannah Mchunu, who plays the role of Zodwa in the Mzansi Magic telenovela, won big at the DSTV Viewers Choice Awards 2022. She scooped the Favourite Actress Award after being nominated alongside fellow Gomora actress Thembi Seete who plays the role of Gladys. After winning the award, Mchunu’s salary was increased from R60 000 to R95 000.
Her salary bumper contract was to fend away competitors from snatching fans’ favourite actress. Mchunu is now one of the most paid actresses on Gomora; her salary is set to increase if she continues to impress viewers with her flair.
On the other hand, Thulani Mtsweni, who plays Bongani, is talking home a salary of R57 000 monthly, higher than Gomora’s average salary of R31 000. Bongani is famous for his saying ‘Haa Mzozo‘, and the saying is slowly becoming his nickname. Bongani is not the main character, but he is proving he is a master of his craft as he has a charming way of keeping Gomora fans glued to their screens.
