The 26th of September will see the debut of an exciting new daily drama on BET Africa. The broadcast will first air on BET Africa (DStv 129) and then on e.tv. The Zikode family is the focus of Redemption, which is set in a large church. According to a press release from BET, after Pastor Simon Zikhode (Themba Ndaba) goes missing, his daughter Faith (Kwanele Mthethwa), who is just starting her international music career, abandons everything to save her family.
Faith learns devastating secrets about those who are closest to her and is forced to face her demons as she becomes more and more involved in the church and the family’s affairs. Dark truths are revealed, and the Zikode family must make a lot of perplexing choices as they struggle to preserve their legacy.
Themba Ndaba declared: “Redemption will bring the highly anticipated drama; it will elicit passionate discussions about the everyday struggles of the average South African, and it will shed light on the value structures in African communities.”
I’ll be playing Pastor Simon Zikode, a strong and charismatic character who won’t stop until he gets what he wants. “We are excited to see how the energy on set translates to the screen.” Along with newcomers N’kone Mametja and Toka Mtabane, the cast also features Tina Jaxa, Sthandiwe Kgoroge, Seputla Sebogodi, Yonda Thomas, Pearl Modiadie, Sparky Xulu, and Yonda Thomas.
