Actress Bukiwe Keva is famous for playing the role of Asanda on Gomora. Asanda’s role is a bully and student at Gomora High School; she has a signature of turning every conversation and comment into a song. She was fired from the Gomora cast via Whatsapp text after failing to appear for work.
Why was Asanda “Bukiwe Keva” fired from Gomora?
Bukiwe Keva failed to pitch for a scheduled routine shoot for her Asanda character after falling sick; despite providing a doctor’s note, she was fired via WhatsApp text. According to a close source to the actress, she is not taking the dismissal lightly after giving everything for the production.
“She failed to report for duty due to an illness and, at the same time, failed to notify producers on time because she was severe and was at a local clinic. Despite proving the doctor’s note, she was dismissed from Gomora cast without any procedures, was just told never to come back again just like that.”
However, a source close to production doubts that Bukiwe Keva was fired using a WhatsApp message. The source said producers usually communicate scheduling matters on WhatsApp.
“Shoot changes, and production-related issues are discussed over WhatsApp because it’s the most accessible form of communication these days. I doubt they fired her through a text because that is not procedural. She was on the show as a call actor who did not hold a permanent contract.”
Gomora’s production statement confirmed that Keva was no longer part of the show but did not reveal the reason for her departure. The statement confirmed that Bukiwe Keva was under a contract as a call actor. The production statement clarified that her character was story dependent and that the storyline, though crucial, had ended. It stated how lovely it was to work with Keva, and they wished her all the best.
