Beauty with Brains: Umbuso actress ‘Mpho’ Zinzi Zungu’s business empire gets Mzansi talking
Zinzi Zungu’s performance in Umbuso left viewers begging for more as she died too soon in the drama series. However, even after her death as Mpho, viewers keep seeing their favourite actress as she comes back in Samora’s hallucinations. This role is not her first one as an actress, as she has had an extensive acting career filled with many challenging roles.
Her debut on television came with a job as a presenter on a kids’ show called Craze in etv. After that, she grew her brand with performance in corporate videos and hosting several radio shows in Durban. She joined the prestigious AFDA to further her education while getting side gigs as a voice-over artist and an MC at prestigious events.
After SABC 3 relaunched a new brand image, the actress became the face of the channel, which marked a new beginning in her career as a public figure. With all the attention she was getting for herself, she started auditioning for roles on TV and got the role of Thokozile in Scandal. She began by joining Owen S management which represented her as an actress for many years.

And so because of this, she was the founder and director of Star Quality management, and the company has mentored a lot of talent. She started the business with Miranda Ntshangase, and they represent everyone from kids to adults. Stars like Enhle Mbali are managed by their company and have become celebrities.
The management company has also started a perfoming arts school to train their artists and actors for the best results. She is also the brains behind the school together with her partner. They offer a range of courses in line with being an entertainer and performer.
Besides all, she has done in the entertainment industry behind the scenes and in front of the camera, she also has another business. She started a page that shares a plant-based diet and healthy diet recipes. On the page, she shared meat and dairy-free products that are also traditional and soulful.
