Most artists worldwide grew up poor or middle class. When they make it big, they have a rag to riches story. Jay Z, for instance, has opened up about how he was poor and had to do crime to survive. Our own Makhadzi grew up very poor but eventually became a successful artist.

Seeing that so many musical artists, painters and actors came from humble beginnings, there is a notion that art is for the poor. Art is for everyone, and some people are born into wealth, but they have the blood of entertainment flowing in them. Here are a few South African celebrities who were born into wealthy families.

Andile Mpisane

Andile Mpisane is a South African musical artist who also dabbles in football as the Royal AM FC chairperson. He is the son of the entrepreneur Shauwn Mkhize and the property mogul Sibusiso Mpisane.

Andile chose to pursue music, and he has a few singles under his belt. He makes music in the gqom and kwaito genres. Recently he became a signed artist for Def Jam Records Africa.

DBN Gogo

DBN Gogo is a club DJ and artist named Mandisa Radebe. However, many people didn’t know that she was the daughter of the businesswoman Bridgette Motsepe and the politician Jeff Radebe. DBN Gogo is a famous amapiano DJ with entertaining energy when she is on the decks.

She also has hit singles in her catalogue, like the trending Bells song. Some of her other musical releases are the songs Khuza Gogo, Bambelela and many more.

Esona Maphumulo

Esona Maphumulo is an upcoming club DJ. He is also the first son of the Grammy Award-winning DJ Black Coffee. Esona lives a lavish lifestyle full of travel and music. His father is one of the most successful artists in Mzansi, and he is going for the global market.

What makes Esona’s musical journey even better is that he is learning from the best in the industry. His career will boom into a broader position due to his connections.

Tebogo Thobejane

Diep City actress and entrepreneur Tebogo was also born into a wealthy family. She got into the industry as a social media influencer. Tebogo managed to gain thousands of followers using her looks. Many people call her a slay queen.

Tebogo managed to get herself on television as Belinda on Muvhango, and now she is acting on Diep City. Her father is the late Obed Thobejane, and he owned the famous haircare range called Black Like Me. Unfortunately, Tebogo says his father’s lawyers cheated her of a portion of her inheritance. She also spent the rest of it on other things.
