Amapiano Duo Ama Roto, made of Reece Madlisa and Sabelo Zuma, shared images and a video showing off their brand new luxury vehicle on their social media accounts. The gents bought themselves a V-Class Mercedes and captioned their posts, “Umthandazo wabolova,” which means a gangster’s prayer.

Both stars were raised in the Alexandra township in Gauteng. Ama Roto means giant fat rats, and Alexandra is known for having a lot of rats; that’s where they got their name from. They also use their duo name to change the narrative of their home town. Also, they use the phrase, “Amaroto adl’u cheese,” which translates to ‘ rats who eat cheese ‘ but means two rats ( people for Alexandra ) who spend serious money.
Duo’s career
After years and years of trying to break into the industry, the two childhood friends got their big break in 2020. When they released their self-titled EP, it became an instant hit. Although they weren’t performing much due to the Covid 19 pandemic, they got a lot of streams and radio airplay. They set clubs on fire when lockdown restrictions were lessened. The duo has made music with Dladla Mshunqisi, Busta 929, Lady Du, Mpura, Killer Kau and Maphorisa with only two years in the industry

Amapiano is going global once more. As the genre is gaining more and more popularity, people abroad want a taste of the sound. Ama Roto will have a three-day tour from the 1st to the 3rd of April 2022. Manchester is the city they’ll perform in mainly.
