Film and Publication Board threatens The Wife with cancellation after Khanyi Mbau’s steamy scenes
The Wife has been trending of late after it wowed Mzansi with its steamy scenes of Zandile character played by Khanyi Mbau and Mondli Makhoba, who plays Nkosana Zulu. Their steamy scenes have seen the drama series trending after nailing a never-seen-before sex scene on small screens.
However, some fellow actors have heaped praises to the actors for turning up the heat on small screens with their unmatched flair. Against the backdrop of the trends Film and Publication Board (FPB) has expressed its disappointment in the scenes.
The seasoned actors have weighed into the matter with their two cents despite all being said. The two believe it was merely acting, and there was no intimacy despite Mzansi signing from a different hymnal.
They have released a statement suggesting that it would review the classification for the series following the steamy scene in the mix of things.

FPB has it that Showmax has an online distribution agreement with the board; hence it has to comply with the board’s classification guidelines to self-classify. Its failure to align its content ratings to the FRB rating system might see the drama series time slot, rating being changed or even be cancelled.
This decision might be a possible alternative after the drama series ratings of 16 VSNL assigned by Showmax to The Wife are revisited. The board has even given MultiChoice a seven-day ultimatum to respond to the matter beforehand.
“Should the review of the classification rating of the episode be found to be incorrect, the FPB has the powers in terms of section 18J of the FP Amendment Act to reclassify any material that was previously classified in terms of the act.”
Boards acting CEO Mashilo Boloka has it that the board is more than worried about the circulation of the scenes on social media. The scenes might take a toll on children and teens who have access to the internet; hence there is a need to review the content of the drama series. In the mix of things, Mzansi hopes that the drama series won’t be suspended for violating the board’s conduct.
