Born in a family of superstars, Somizi is the son of legendary actress Mary Twala. His mother succumbed to Covid related illness in 2020 and courted international recognition with American Diva Beyoncé Knowles and her mother mourning the passing away of Marry Twala. In his capacity, Somizi worked his way up to become the face of the South African entertainment industry. The multi-talent Idols SA judge dubs as a cook, presenter, artist, model and actor. After fans outrage, his reinstatement on the Idols SA judges’ panel gave Somizi bargaining power for a higher percentage commission. Sources reveal that Somizi signed a multi-million deal around R5.6 million with Multichoice for Idols SA season 18 feature.
Tourism and Hospitality
Well-travelled Somizi has a tourism and hospitality business in Mauritius, which he co-owns with an Angolan businessman. Together they own a group of self-catering hotels with private beaches and a fleet of boats. In 2022, Somizi is valued at R81 million; he is tipped to make history with the launch of much anticipated Sompire Kids.
Somizi and the Zimbabwe debacle
Somizi encountered rejection across the borders because of his sexuality; in 2021, he was barred from entering Zimbabwe, where he got invited for a restaurant launch. The event organizers turned to songbird Kelly Khumalo, who rejected the offer in solidarity with her friend Somizi.
