Tumi Masemola is a celebrated South African actress who acts with unmatched flair on small screens. However, apart from acting, she doubles as a singer, producer and businesswoman. The bubbly actress is best known for her on-screen in City Ses’la as Letisha. Currently, she is nailing her Bontle character in The River. In the Mzansi Magic drama series, she stars alongside Mzansi’s finest, like Sindi Dlathu, who stars as Lindiwe.
After matriculating, she enrolled at the South African School of Motion Picture and Live Performance (AFDA) in Johannesburg. However, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in Live Performance and Motion Picture. She has been majoring in film production and acting.
Like those before her, Tumi shot to fame came in the backdrop of theatre plays. She has starred in several screenplays such as Fela’s TV and Home Affairs, with an illustrious career spanning years. Of interest is that she once hosted the 7th Annual Metro FM Music Awards in 2006.

No doubt her flair has seen her making it in the advertising world. Her City Ses’la gig thrust her into the limelight. In 2006 she starred in an M-Net film Sibahle. In recent years, she has also managed to produce soundtracks for several soapie operas with her band GI, including the tracks Cry 4 Me, Salute and Dream Team. She has partnered with big brands like Doritos, FNB, KFC, and Virgin Mobile for commercials.
We can all agree that her occupation has got Mzansi talking. It comes as a shocker, but she is the one who is behind the success of Black Brain Pictures and Mighty Music Africa record label. The bubbly media personality doubles as the managing director. She won big at the SAFTA’s as she was credited as City Ses’la Co-Executive Producer and as Associate Producer. However, she managed to win three significant accolades that include:
