On Idols Season 18, Randall Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi are both out. More surprises are coming our way on the Idols season 18 competition.
During the week, we found out that Somizi would be making a massive comeback to the idols as a judge. We also learnt that Unathi was given the boot.
We just learnt that she is not the only one. The Word is that Randall Abrahams is also not coming back.
Reports suggest that the show organisers have reported that this is due to their contracts not being renewed and their new strategy to revamp the show. According to the Mnet director Shirley Adonisi, they are taking a new approach to the judging panel to keep the audience and compete in the Sunday night time slot.
The show’s contract was almost not renewed because viewers considered it boring. According to sources, the show producers were given a request to change the format or come up with new ideas, or they could face the show being canned.
Adonisi also said that the Mzansi Magic channel thanks Unathi and Randall for contributing to the competition and launching many careers.
This is what she also said:
“We salute these great icons of South African entertainment and thank them both for great innings on Idols. Randall and Unathi have demonstrated high levels of professionalism and impacted the South African entertainment scene, which will continue to be felt for some time to come. We wish them well in their endeavours,” Adonisi further said.
However, in the mix of things, the return of Somizi was not mentioned. The showrunners have it that a new panel of judges will be revealed as the show heads for season 18.
