Coronavirus sexually transmitted: Studies conducted in China have proved that the novel coronavirus can persist in the testes well after the person recovers. The study has also proved the covid-19 can be sexually transmitted from one person to another. Coronavirus or covid-19 can be transmitted through sex even after recovery
The study conducted in China
Scientists in China analysed the results form a sample of 38 patients with the covid-19 pandemic. 15 of the total number are still to recover from he virus and 23 of those are out of hospital and fully recovered.
The purpose of the study was to analyse if these men had the novel coronavirus in their semen to ascertain the parts of the body that the virus remains even after a patient recovers.
The results returned with six people with the virus in their semen. Two of the six people had already recovered from virus and had tested negative to the virus by using a swab. The study answered the question: Can i get coronavirus or covid-19 through sex?
Studies are ongoing to find out if the virus can remain in other parts of the body well after the person has recovered.
Coronavirus sexually transmitted after recovery
Dr Shixi Zhang, from the Shangqiu Municipal Hospital, says “the survival of the coronavirus in a recovering patient’s semen maintains the likelihood to infect others”. With the likelihood of coronavirus transmission through sex high, the researchers have encouraged people who want to be intimate to consider wearing protection to reduce the likelihood of them transmitting the covid-19 through sex even after the person recovers
The virus is transmitted by body fluids and also by contact. Research also revealed the virus can be transmitted through the air depending on the conditions such as temperature and humidity.
The World Health Organisation, WHO is still to comment on the latest findings in China.
Globally, the coronavirus has infected 3,917,653 people and 270,721 have succumbed to the disease.
