We have seen several celebrities being cancelled after being implicated in gender-related allegations and rape scandals in recent years. Some celebrities manage to hang in there in the mix of things, and some opt for justice.
Undoubtedly, one can not discuss gender-based scandals without implicating Sjava, DJ Fresh, and Jub Jub. Here is a list of South African celebrities cancelled after rape allegations levelled against them by their ex-lovers and rumoured girlfriends.
Jub Jub
The celebrated TV personality has been trending of late after being implicated in a rape allegation scandal with Skeem Saam actress Amanda Du Pont. Her daring allegations come in the backdrop of his podcast and chill session with MacG aired on Channel O.
During the session, Jub Jub opened a lot of cans; however, of interest is the fact that she dumped Amanda Du Pont for Kelly Khumalo. In the mix of things, he revealed several incidents that didn’t go well with Mzansi and Du Pont.
However, of interest is that Du Pont dropped a bombshell when she revealed that Jub Jub forced himself on her without her consent. Du Pont revealed that this happened for two years but could not speak about it because she feared Jub Jub and her mother. In the backdrop of these allegations, Jub Jub has seen himself being cancelled, and however, he is yet to table a response.
South African celebrities who have been cancelled due to rape allegations
Sjava
In 2020 Sjava saw himself being cancelled after music sensation ad ex-girlfriend Yamikani Janet Banda best known as Lady Zamar, opened a case against him of rape allegations. The case was opened at the Lyttleton police station in Pretoria in November 2020.
State papers stated that the incident happened on 9 September 2017 at the Porche Villa Hotel in Thohoyandou after performing at the Royal Heritage festival in Venda, Limpopo.
Zamar has it that Sjava invited her to his room before he forced himself on her without her concern. Of interest is that the case was only reported two years after it happened. However, the courts of Law dismissed the allegations and cleared Sjava from any rape allegations.
DJ Fresh and Euphonik
The musical duo of DJ Fresh and Euphonik hogged headlines for the wrong reasons earlier this year when they were implicated in a rape allegation scandal. Their alleged victim took it to social media to reveal that she was raped and left behind by the two DJ’s. The victim also revealed that she had a baby to prove her case in the mix of things.
Fresh and Euphonik hit back to the allegations with lawsuits in a turn of events. However, the matter was later thrown under the bus after the victim failed to prove her case before the courts of Law.
