The Award-winning actor Yonda has not had formal acting training; he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration and has roles in numerous school plays and productions. He made a television breakthrough as Mvelo Nobela in the SABC1 drama series Fallen in 2011. Over his acting career, Yonda played roles in popular soapies and films, including Isibaya, Rhythm City, Isidingo, Muvhango and The River. He recently played a starring role in the Netflix drama How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding.
Happily married to Doctor Mumtaaz Emeran, Yonda is a stepfather to a 15-year-old Emeran’s son. Emeran revealed that when the two met, she told him she had a six-year-old son and was shocked by his response.
