Is Bab’Gumede from Durban Gen father to Screwdriver from Uzalo?
No doubt, the two have been making all sorts of headlines of late with their unmatched talent. We can all agree that Simosibucayi Buthelezi, best known as Screwdriver on Uzalo and Sifiso Sibiya, who plays Bab’ Gumede on Durban Gen, are making all sorts of headlines of late.
However, on Durban Gen, Sifiso Sibiya plays Bab’Gumede, a dedicated paramedic who has his heart at work and always make things happen. On the other hand, it seems as if Screwdriver is the complete opposite of Bab’Gumede.

On Uzalo, he stars as Nkunzi’s righthand man who gets the job done and always cleans up the mess. Of interest is the fact that Simosibucayi Buthelezi always finds himself in trouble most of the time.
Of late, the two have been rumoured to be related because they have striking similarities. The two look alike, and one would think they are related, but alas, the two are not described as we all thought; here is why. Sibiya was born on 29 July 1976 and is a writer, director, and poet besides acting.

The seasoned actor was born in eMandeni KwaZulu-Natal. However, a few years later, he saw himself relocating to Soweto Gauteng. The actor happens to be one of the star-studded cast of the Ifalakhe Season drama series that made all sorts of headlines with their unmatched talent.

In the wake of these daring allegations, the two seem to have weighed into the matter with their two cents. Simosibucayi Buthelezi did indicate that despite having striking similarities, Bab’Gumede happens to be his friend, and the two always hang around together.
“I’ve been getting questions whether Sifiso is my father. When I heard the question for the first time, I laughed, thinking that the fan was just joking.
“But this thing became serious when more fans asked me the same question. Sifiso and I hang out together often, and we are friends, but we are not related,” said Simosibucayi.
On the other hand, Sifiso Sibiya has it that they have striking similarities but are not related.
“We are not relatives, but we are friends and industry brothers; I respect his craft and he respect mine; he is one of my favourite actors on Uzalo.”
