Zimbabwe prostitutes in the town of Epworth have pleaded with the government of Zimbabwe to be included in the lockdown social grants programme as they are struggling to get customers. They also appealed to donors to assist them with food and money for rent.

They revealed their ordeal in an interview with The FeedZW.
A prostitute in Zimbabwe who introduced herself as Tanyaradzwa Mamvura narated her story:
My name is Tanyaradzwa Mavhura from Epworth, i last went to school when i was form one. I was rectuited by a friend who is also in the same industry. I started staying along after we parted ways with my friend. Sometimes you don’t get anything in a day. We a suffering because of the lockdown and our customers cannot move to our places because they do not have permits. We do not have anything to eat because we are not working. I have a baby and it has become very hard for me. I want to eat, and my child also wants to eat. If i can get assistance i want to go back to school so that i can change my profession. I’m asking for rentals and money for food.
Another woman who stays in the areas said, “There are going to be unwanted pregnancies because of the lockdown. It will be difficult for the young girls in this area. Some of them are charging five bond notes for vegetables, and some are given ten bond notes by their customers and they are told to get condoms, but they are not affording it. They are not protecting themselves. They no longer afford to buy condoms. Some young girls as young as 16 years are working as prostitutes.”
