Mpumalanga man shoots wife and two children point-blank, then kills himself
The SAPS in Mpumalanga has “strongly” condemned a domestic violence incident that took place at Tonga in Nkomazi. However confirmed reports have it that a 32-year-old woman and her two children, aged 10 and four, were shot and killed allegedly by her husband.
Well, SAPS spokesperson in Mpumalanga Colonel Donald Mdhluli did confirm the incident. Rumour has it that the “horrific” incident occurred on Wednesday at around 9.30 pm at Tonga in Nkomazi.
Official statements indicated that:
“The 36-year-old husband was also found with [a] gunshot wound. A firearm belonging to him was also found in the house,” said Mdhluli.
“According to the report, the SAPS members at Tonga as well as the medical personnel were notified about the incident and upon their arrival, the woman, as well as one of the children, were unfortunately certified dead at the scene by the paramedics.”
The other child was already taken to a healthcare facility for medical treatment by a family member but was also certified dead on arrival in the hospital. Police opened a case with three counts of murder and an inquest.
“Preliminary investigation indicates that after shooting the three members of his family, the husband reportedly called other members of the family to inform them of what has occurred before turning the gun on himself,” said Mdhluli.
“The motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage, meanwhile, circumstances surrounding this shocking incident is being investigated.”

Meanwhile, the provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, said the horrific incident was regrettable.
Manamela appealed to community members to seek professional help when they encountered life challenges, “rather than resorting to violence”.
However, it was recently reported that a 25-year-old Mpumalanga serial rapist buries five women in the backyard. Two families are still waiting to bury their loved ones a year after their remains were exhumed at the home of an alleged serial killer in Masoyi Mpumalanga. Police say DNA tests are still being conducted in the Netherlands.
The DNA tests had to be done in the Netherlands because forensic experts in South Africa failed to get results, they needed a more complex test. The bodies of the two are part of the five bodies that were exhumed after a serial killer, 25-year-old Julius Mndawe buried them after killing them.
