Things always tend to spoil the image of SAPS. Hijackers dressed as police officers were arrested earlier today. Trackers Officials confirm the arrest and recovery of the Mercedes Benz C320 that was stolen in Bloemfontein. Reports also confirm SAPS assisted Trackers officials.
The suspects were dressed in police uniforms which were found in the car. The public is concerned with the increase of robberies by people dressed in Police Uniforms. What troubles people is where are these robbers getting the uniforms?
It has become a norm that people dressed as police officers are robbing and ill-treating people. The police are expected to protect and make sure citizens abide by the rules governing their own safety. However, this has not been the case lately. Videos of police officers harassing people and ignoring complaints have flooded social media.

On the other hand, the number of cars being recovered by Trackers and SAPS are increasing. This is good news but the rate at which hijacking cases are also increasing is alarming. The cases are so bad that companies have resorted to offering rewards to anyone who comes with information of the hijackings so that goods are recovered.
SAPS complacency has been a problem many feel it needs serious attention. The way crime is escalating is a huge problem itself. The authorities need to address these problems so that people can feel safe again and enjoy their rights.
