Special Leave for Deputy President David Mabuza who is set for medical consultations in Russia
The Deputy President of South Africa, David Mabuza, has requested from the president of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to go on a few days of leave. This was announced by the Presidency of South Africa on Saturday evening.
“During this time, the Deputy President will undertake a visit to the Russian Federation for a scheduled medical consultation. This consultation is a follow-up to previous medical consultations that the Deputy President received from the Russian Federation,” the presidency said in a statement.
“The Deputy President will continue with the responsibilities that have been entrusted to him upon the end of the leave period,” the statement further continued.
However, Mabuza leave comes barely a few weeks after Health Minister was also put on special leave. It was recently reported that Just In: Mkhize relieved of duty and placed on special leave by Ramaphosa. Of late the Health Minister has been making all sorts of headlines for the wrong reasons. Mkhize has been implicated in a daring scandal that has seen him trending.

Well in the mix of things it seems as if the President has seen it fit to put him on special leave. The good gesture has since been appreciated by Mzansi at large.
President Cyril Ramaphosa placed Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on special leave so he can attend to allegations levelled against him in the Digital Vibes debacle, the Presidency said.
“This period of special leave will enable the minister to attend to allegations and investigations concerning contracts between the Department of Health and a service provider, Digital Vibes,” the Presidency said in a statement.
“The Special Investigating Unit is investigating this matter and the president awaits a report on the outcome of this probe.”
However, in the wake of his leave, the President has assigned the Ministry. Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane will serve as acting Minister of Health until further notice.
