Posts from prison by Tshegofatso’s murderer shocks Mzansi. The Department of Correctional Services is investigating how the inmate got a Smartphone in prison. This comes after the convicted murderer updated his Facebook status whilst behind bars. Correctonal services spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo confirms the story.
“This is a disturbing development as mobile phones are contraband. It is also a point of interest to us as a department to ascertain how the inmate managed to access the mobile phone. The department will leave no stone unturned in trying to find out who gave Malephane,” Nxumalo reported.
Melaphane who admitted to being offered R70 000 to kill the 28 year old pregnant Pule last year will be charged for contravening prison rules. If murderers can access phones and be in touch with their families then prison is becoming soft and enjoyable. DA’s James Selfe says around 17 cellphones were found in a prison ceiling in Springs prison.

“They get cellphones because people take them into prison and most of the time these are prison officials across the board. People must be told they can’t take cellphones inside the prison whether official or not. They (inmates) call me sometime from inside prison looking for help and they want parole and intervention,” Selfe said.
Tshegofatso Pule’s body was found hanging from a tree in June 2020 with multiple stab wounds. The murderer accused Pule’s ex-boyfriend for paying him to carry out the killing. The murder touched so many South Africans. Such hate to wish a mother and her unborn child dead made many cry and protest.
Cases of Gender Based violence increased during the initial lockdown in 2020. The sharp increase is devastating and calls for authorities to step up their actions when dealing with such cases.
