Video: Two men arrested for Police impersonation
Two men have been arrested for police impersonation after the two were caught at a road block they were controlling. A video of the two men is circulating on social media platforms. This comes after an alleged traffic police officer assaulted a citizen and threatened to shoot that man.
In the video police officers are asking one of the men why he would go on duty without any weapon. They are also eager why an officer would resort to such and borrow his friends his state uniform.
Criminal impersonation is when one impersonates another with intent to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud another. It can also be when one pretends to be a state marshal with intent to induce another to submit to such pretended official authority.
One of the arrested is a traffic officer who gave his friends his uniform so that they could go on a road block and manipulate the system. These are the fake police officers who demand bribe from locals and when denied they resort to unlawful actions.

Recently a video of a traffic officer harassing a driver and loading his gun whilst threatening to shoot the man angered many citizens. However, the Gauteng Traffic Police have distanced themselves from the recent traffic incident. The GTP Gauteng Traffic Police Twitter account also waded into the mix and explained that the car registration number is not from traffic cops.
The public was disappointed by the video of the traffic officer assaulting the Bentley driver. Many called for harsh punishment once the officer is caught. Hopefully these impersonators will face the consequences of their actions and the public should learn from these two that abuse of power worse if pretending is a serious offense.
