Watch: Bogus COVID-19 screening exercise in schools worries parents
A video of man wrongly checking the temperature of pupils waiting in line to get to class is circulating on social media. The fact that the man is not even doing it properly but is just faking the whole process is quite disturbing This is so sad especially after rumors and cases of a third deadly wave.

Temperature checking is one of the protocols set by the World Health Organisation to detect any anomalies in public places. The video tells the reluctance and how uncommitted people are when it comes to COVID-19.
In the video the man appears to be checking the temperatures very fast but the while process looks bogus. The children are also not even aware of what is happening and this also reflects on the levels of awareness in our communities.

Some parents bear with the man doing the temperature check and think his work is tiresome that is why he ends up not following the actual procedures. On the other hand, many are worried about their children and think it is right to follow the right procedure as COVID-19 is real. Here are some of the comments:
“Honestly hw can u everyday check 400kids+ surely everyone wll gt into class late if the process was done according and also writing their temperatures down.”
“This is cheating the system when we are confronted by a third wave.”
“I hope this is not happening during this 3rd wave! Our kids will die at schools with this type of people.”
“The sad reality of how lots of people do their work. When the pandemic continues despite these measures, we tend to blame govts and not see how we contribute to it.”
“You can find out that temperature test is not working and staff knows it’s not working but they gave him to test students I know one of the biggest shop used temperature test that is not working.”
The video emerges after it was reported that Gauteng Health MEC Nomathemba Mokgethi tests positive for Covid-19. She was one of the first people in the province to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine under the Sisonke programme. People need to adhere to the protocols and be safe at all times.

Law enforcers have to regularly check if communities are following the proper procedures which are intended to save our lives.
