15-years behind bars for stealing R100!
Despite having a high crime rate less than 13% of crime perpetrators are nabbed and put behind bars. In the wake of these daring statistics. No doubt the sentence left Mzansi talking after two criminals were sentenced to 15-years behind bars for stealing an R100.
What left Mzansi talking was the sentence. In South Africa, some high profile cases have been cleared of the hook or given lighter sentences despite being big cases that demand heavy sentences.

Well according to the state papers the two thugs were nabbed after they took R100 from the victim who was sent to buy bread. The boy was on his way to buy bread on a local spaza when he was manhandled with the two thugs.
Earlier this week Nigel Regional Court sentenced Godfrey Nhlapo (20) and Tumi Tsotetsi (19) to 15-years each for aggravated robbery. However, it was established that the robbery which was before the courts happened in July last year.

The police did confirm the matter beforehand and gave a detailed report of what really transpired according to police reports. Police spokesman Harry Manaka had this to say.
” They robbed 14-year-old boy in Bluegum View, in Duduza while he was on his way to buy bread at a local spaza with his friends. The victim was having the company of his three friends.
“One of the suspects confronted the victims and they held them hostage. The victim was choked from behind whilst his friends were threatened by a knife by the other suspect,” he said.

However, it was established that Duduza cops reacted swiftly to the matter when it was reported. The man in blue managed to track down the suspects and nabbed them. Detective Sergeant Mofokeng investigated the matter and presented overwhelming evidence before the court.
However, the boys family welcomed the sentence. Speaking to the media they indicated that they were happy that justice was served.
“These are small kid s the incident left them traumatized. It seems as if life hasn’t been the same for them after the incident. We hope the suspects learn their lessons.”
