In-laws demand 8 cattle for lobola during daughter’s burial
Parents of the 22 year old woman who died after being assaulted by her husband demanded that 8 cattle be paid as lobola at the grave site. Mcdonald Chiveto beat his wife Sharon Munhenga after an altercation and this led to Sharon’s death.
To make matters worse, Mcdonald Chiveto had not paid lobola to Sharon’s family. The family then demanded their lobola during their daughter’s burial at Zororo Memorial Park. The deceased clothes were left with the in-laws, signifying that distribution of Sharon’s belongings would only be conducted after lobola had been paid.
Mcdonald has since been arrested on a murder charge and will appear in court on the 8th April 2021. Sharon Munhenga left a note that gave an account of what happened after her husband had assaulted her. Sources report to H-Metro that Chitevo paid part of the lobola to Munhenga family.
