Another massive win on the cards for SA rapper, Reason and personality, Lesego Tlhabi as they star in an upcoming SABC series, UBettina wethu.
On the latest Lesego Tlhabi victories is UBettina wethu. The series is an adaptation of the American series, Ugly Betty. Apparently the wardrobe scuffle that happened when she was fat shamed was for her UBettina Wethu Wardrobe.
So today I went to a famous designer who was told my sizes way beforehand because it’s for TV. Does he not then declare very loudly in the store after a failed try-on that he has nothing for me & then uses words like “fatty boom boom” to describe how I’d look in the designs. Yoh. To the convo this week, this is why fatphobia is so different than other shaming. I was made to feel like less than nothing today because of my body. My body is not good enough for his dresses & he let that shit be known. He really could’ve said that to the stylist ON THE PHONE.
Heyi I’m hurt af. And of course I have to shake it off because it’s for work. Your day really can get ruined on account of you being a big girl in a way that no one else will understand. THE INDUSTRY LITERALLY DOESN’T WANT US. It’s wild.
Lesego Tlhabi and Reason to join new series, UBettina wethu
Designer, Quiterier Atelier who came out to deny the fat shaming accusations is doing the UBettina Wethu wardrobe. The personality has had an amazing start to the year as she also featured in the Neflix production, Thabi’s baby diaries. She also bagged a gig as one of the Trending SA hosts. The actress took to celebrating her victory on Twitter after entertainment reporter Kgopolo Mphela’s announcement on Twitter,
“It’s the fact that you really have the tea.Wow. I didn’t know this was coming out this soon lol! But wait till y’all see who the sterring of the show is!
Lesego Coconut Kelz Thlabi on is the writer of the trio. Lesgo Thlabi is a content creator who brings comedy into the mix. With her YouTube channel, Lesego has got herself quite the following and make her mark with her alter ego, Coconut Kelz.
Reason will also be joining the cast of UBettina Wethu. The actor has had a couple of acting roles before this. Also joining Reason and Lesego in UBettina Wethu is Soso Rungqu who played Morongwa on Isidingo and Brighton Ngoma who plays Quinton on eTV’s Scandal.
