Two Harare men in custody for murdering a fellow friend over a tennis shoe misunderstanding
Two friends from Kuwadzana Harare are in jail for murdering their fellow friend over a tennis shoe misunderstanding. Kelvin Dendera (31) and Arnold Shoriwa (38) were reported to have assaulted Andrew Matsauko (29) using an iron bar. The duo attacked their friend Andrew for stealing a pair of tennis shoes in Kuwadzana.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police provincial Spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachii confirms the incident.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to confirm the arrest of two men from Kuwadzana in connection with the murder case of Andrew Matsauko that took place on Sunday.”
“Circumstances are that the accused are friends with the now deceased. One of the accused Kelvin Dendera is said to have accused Andrew for stealing his tennis shoes. Arnold then helped Kelvin to hit the deceased with an iron bar until he was unconscious.”
” Upon noticing this, the two men stashed Andrew’s body under a bed. They left the house and handed themselves to the Kuwadzana police the following day leading to their arrest. We therefore urge all people to respect the sanctity of life and resolve their issues amicably, ” said Inspector Chazovachii.

This incident shows that there were other issues going on with the three friends and used the sneakers misunderstanding as an excuse. The age difference between the accused and the deceased also is a sign that some other shady deals were happening.
Many times murders occur over silly things. People should always respect life and report theft or other cases to bodies that deal with them in this case the Police.
Some might argue that with the increase in corruption and bribery cases involved with the police it becomes hard to trust such bodies to solve issues in our society.
