Gweru family homeless after floods wreck shelter
A woman from Gweru, Tecla Majangara (28) is homeless after heavy rains destroyed her home. The 28 year old mother of five expecting her sixth child lives in Montrose.
She lost all her belongings including food, blankets, property and clothes. This happened after Gweru River flooded and excessive water flowed into her 2 roomed house.
Thanks to Gweru city for offering the family temporary shelter at Mtapa Hall. Mtapa Hall is being used to shelter other vagrant families consisting of nine women, sixteen children and ten men. All these victims at the Hall are surviving on NGO handouts. The situation at Mtapa Hall is bad as the families are stashed in a corner.

Tecla’s situation is not good also. She is a young mother of five expecting the sixth child with no place to stay and nothing to eat or wear. Her boyfriend rarely supports her since the time Tecla mistakenly got pregnant by another man. This boyfriend is father to one child out of the five and the sixth is not his.
“Heavy rains started at around 9am did not stop for the whole day. At around 4pm the bridge that connects the road from Gweru to Lower Gweru collapsed. That is when water started over flowing into our home. In no time the water level was too high and we had to evacuate with my children to a higher place. However, we could not take anything with us “, said Tecla.
Tecla is in pain and in need of help. She says all her belongings are gone and desperately need help from anyone and anywhere.
