Health Minister confirms the number of Covid19 infections in SA has risen to 1749 with 13 deaths recorded as of today.
South Africans are fearing the lockdown could be extended above the 21 days prescribed at first. The number of cases are increasing daily though the death rate is low. The increase in confirmed cases could be as a result of extensive testing being performed by the South African health delivery system which has also started door to door testing.
Lockdown crimes and arrests
The lockdown so far has been generally successful despite nearly 2,000 arrests being made. South Africa has also recorded over 87,000 domestic violence related cases. The number of cases resonate with the numbers recorded in China. South Africa, like China, is likely to experience an increase in divorce cases at the end of the lockdown period.
