You know you’ve made it in life when you get a gift from the Queen Bey herself. That will be Nandi Madida for you. Nandi Madida recently received a thank you gift from Beyonce and her team for her role in Black is King.
The gift was in appreciation for Nandi’s role in Black is King.In Black is King, Nandi Madida played Nala alongside Nyaniso Dzedze, who played Simba, the late Mary Twala, Yemi Alade, Connie Chiume among others. The film is a celebration of Blackness, the journey Black people have come and a tribute to Black culture. In the Queen’s words, the aim is to “present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy.”
The album was inspired by Lion King and it features some of Africa’s top artists such as Tekno, Yemi Alade and Mr Eazi.
It goes without saying that this was probably the highlight of Nandi’s 2020, to be a part of such a phenomenal project. What made it better, to be appreciated by Beyonce individually for your participation. Nandi took to social media to post her package with a thank you note that read, “Thank you @Beyonce and the Parkwood team for the beautiful gift, forever grateful &humbled to have been apart of such a great project and working with inspiring people. Ngiyabonga #blackisking ✨🙏🏽🤍”
2020 also saw Nandi sign with an international agency, A3 Artists Agency which is based in Los Angeles. The agency approached Nandi Madida and she was excited to join their stable. This came at a time when she was engaged in a legal dispute over R3.7mill worth of outstanding payments with Lux
Clearly, with it’s highs and lows 2020 was still a year with massive wins for Nandi Madida.
