ZRP Police Officer kills baby in Harare CBD; Police gives an update
In what the crowd mentioned as a dreadful event on the 5th of January 2021 when an officer of the law assailed a mother carrying her child on her back, all turns out to be false. The horrific incident occurred along 2nd street in Harare whilst the police officer was enforcing the Covid-19 lock down regulations.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police has claimed the incident to be false and denies the claims that the toddler died. This was after the social media went feral with the news that the baby had been killed by an over eager ZRP officer.
Claims suggest that the 9 month old baby died right away just after being attacked. A video makes rounds on social media showing the pained mother holding her baby and man handling the police officer in rage. The crowds in the video seem to be supporting the mother and encouraging the officer’s apprehension.
However, the police have a different version of the story which emerges after a thorough investigation done by them. Instead the Law Enforcers claim that the alleged police officer struck the window of the commuter omnibus. The fragments of the glass hit the people in close proximity which includes the mother and the baby to which the crowd went haywire towards the police officer.

The police further claim that they ferried the mother and her baby to West End Clinic in Harare according to iHarare. The turnout of events is phenomenal as the baby is still alive. This wonder is further made great by the fact that both the mother and the baby did not sustain any injury whatsoever despite the gruesome incident that occurred on the first day of the National Lockdown.
