Media personality and Idols judge Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung criticized Big Zulu’s hit song Imali Eningi for not speaking to his life.
The song has driven Mzansi crazy and has become the song of the festive season.
The Duduzane Zuma walk brought hype to the song, with South Africans joining the challenge performing a power walk with the song playing in the background.
Speaking at the KZN Entertainment Awards held at ICC Arena in Durban, Somizi said artists should release songs that relate to everyone as he felt left out by Imali Eningi.
Somizi said he already has a lot of money and is not dreaming of making more money as he has arrived.
The media guru hails from KwaMashu township in the north of Durban. He was co Master of Ceremony with actress Pearl Thusi.
“The song is dividing us who have money and those who don’t have money and want to have it.
“The song does not relate with me at all and I feel left behind because I also like to be part of Duduzane Zuma’s famous walk challenge.
“I challenge Mzansi artists to write the song that accommodates all of us and not separate us with our financial status. I challenge Big Zulu, Sjava, and others to write the song that will accommodate us all,” he said.
Big Zulu’s hit has been the most downloaded song on iTunes for the last couple of days and has racked 3 million views on Youtube in its first three weeks of release.
The Duduzane Zuma walk impressed Mzansi, especially women, and made the song even more popular. Big Zulu, Riky Rick, and Intaba Yase Dubai have been promoting the song on social media and thanked Duduzane for his contribution to making the song a hit.
