Breaking News: Bushiris Arrested and Reportedly In Police Custody in Malawi
Controversial religious leaders Shepherd and Mary Bushiri are in police custody in Malawi. According to a confirmed report, the Bushiri couple was arrested this morning following a raid at their home. The Gauteng High Court has also issued a warrant for the arrest of the Bushiri’s.
The controversial Malawian born self-proclaimed prophet was nabbed today in Malawi following a directive by Interpol Pretoria. Prophet Bushiri was arrested together with his wife who is also a justice fugitive.
The couple was arrested in their home were not found at their home last night by Interpol police. The couple skipped South Africa through the Beitbridge border post. The two violated their bail application conditions and two warrants of arrest were issued against them.
The Gauteng High Court was the latest to have issued arrest warrants for the fugitive couple. The Bushiris has been charged with fraud, theft and money laundering. They also risk forfeiting their multi-million-rand property if they do not return to SA.

TimesLive confirmed that the Bushiris handed themselves over to the police as they were being man hunted. News24 confirmed that the Gauteng High Court had issued warrants for the arrests of both Shepherd and Mary.
The arrest of the Bushiris has left Mzansi divided. In the wake of his escape, many thought they were not supposed to have bailed.
From their bail conditions, the Bushiris would see their R5.5m property in Pretoria forfeited. They had not submitted the deeds for the property. They have already forked out a whopping R400 000 as they were released on R200 000 bail each.
The Bushiris were arrest last month after they were implicated in an investment deal that saw them allegedly launder and externalise part of the investment. They are also facing charges of fraudulently acquiring citizenship in South Africa.
