Maskandi Artist Govozile Khumalo Shot Again
Savanna News has learnt that Maskandi artist Govozile Khumalo was shot and wounded by unknown assailants on Saturday in Witbank.
His spokesperson Mashesha Dlamini told a publication that Govozile was shot on his way to work. Govozile suffered injuries on his leg and chest.
Dlamini said they suspect that the shooters were trying to hijack Khumalo’s Toyota Hilux. He did not give any indication on the state of Govozile. He told the publication that this is the third time the maskandi artist has been shot.
Govozile Khumalo was shot twice last year. His spokesperson said in the first shooting incident, the shooters managed to take his car. Fortunately for Govozile the car was recovered. In the second incident, the musician was attacked at home by unknown people. In this case the shooters surprisingly did not take anything.
Dlamini added that they believe the shooting incidents are unrelated despite them being numerous. He said the musician has opened a case with the police regarding the recent shooting. Dlamini could not provide a case number because it was with Govozile.
Born Muzi Khumalo, Govozile Khumalo has released albums such as i-Tourist, eMarikana among many others.
Shooting incidents have been on the rise in South Africa with recent reports that Zimbabwean singer Innocent Chikuku, aka Yung The Hustler was shot in Eldorado Park near Soweto.
Chikuku lost his BMW 330i and R46 000 in cash. He told a publication that he remembers being dragged out of his car before he lost consciousness and woke up in the intensive care unit four days later.
