Emoyeni Coming To Netflix This Month
Emoyeni which is a local series directed by Thishiwe Ziqubu & Mmabatho Montsho is coming to Netflix this month.
The development comes after makers of the series BuMP films and Light Realm Films reached an agreement with Netflix to bring the 2018 series onto the streaming platform. Emoyeni is a four-part television series that features stories of the supernatural realm colliding with the ordinary world.
In the series, troubled individuals experience otherworldly forces that challenge everything they think to be true. In each part, the individuals undergo otherworldly experiences when the spirit realm directly interacts with their ordinary worlds.
The characters in the series experience superhuman trials as they fight to through loss, betrayal, ambition, love, and lust, these characters. They must confront their fears and embrace the supernatural, or suffer the consequences.
The series is created and produced by Thishiwe Ziqubu and Bridget Pickering, directed by Thishiwe Ziqubu, Mmabatho Montsho, Perivi Katjavivi, and PJ Makosholo.
Emoyeni features Mothusi Magano, Tumi Ngumla, Vangile Ziqubu, Mandisa Nduna, Ebenhaezer Dibakwane, Motlatsi Mafatshe, and Nomonde Mbusi as part of the cast.
YoMzansi reports that the series will arrive on Netflix on October 28.
Emoyeni aired on SABC 1 from July 22, 2018. Thishiwe Ziqubu wrote two of the four films and directed one of them. One of the episodes features an alcoholic who has a difficult time dealing with the loss of his daughter. The episode educates viewers on grief and perceptions of reality.
In an interview, Ziqubu said the series is not about witchcraft saying, “I am personally tired of the direct link of supernatural with witchcraft because it is false, boring and at times insulting.”
