Nota says A-Reece and Nasty C don’t truly represent SA hip hop
Music manager and former Kwesta’s handler Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi better known as Nota has thrown shades at hip hop artists A-Reece and Nasty C rapping style as he is of the opinion that they don’t truly represent South African hip hop.
Speaking with Mac G on Podcast and Chill, Nota touched on a number of Hip Hop artists such as AKA, K.O, Nasty C, Kwesta, Cassper Nyovest and A-Reece.
Asked if he has a beef with Nasty C, Nota said he doesn’t have a problem with Nasty C but he is actually coaching him.
I’m coaching him because he is not challenged because it is too easy as he is not being challenged. He makes the same old music. When he releases music the label just bring numbers out of nowhere. The hip hop music industry is too small. I don’t blame him, its Mabala Noise.
Nota went on to explain the reasons A-Reece and Nasty C will fade if they do not change: he believes they both will become like Lady Gaga:
Unless they start truly representing South Africa Hip Hop they are both going to die. If you do not grow and keep your cult following you become like Lady Gaga who was growing her budget and expenses while her cult following was not growing. He ended up bankrupt and It can happen to anybody.
Asked if he really means it that Nasty C is still with Mabala Noise after he signed with Def Jam, Nota responded:
Either way Mabala Noise is still involved. It is very complicated, artists don’t understand how this works. The people around them keep them in a state where they don’t know where they stand. Mabala Noise ad a deal with Universal, and Universal is the owner of Def Jam Recordings. Mabala still own his music and they have their piece.
