The President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa addressed the nation over new measures to curb corona virus. Here is the summary:
Following measures take immediate effect:
Borders closed for travellers other than returning residents, who will have to quarantine for 21 days and need a certificate that they are COVID-19 free when coming from COVID countries.
Borders remain open for cargo.
Non-essential travel within the country is banned.
Blanket ban on recreational activities (includes cinemas, bars, retaurants, swimming pools, etc).
Hospital visit are reduced to one a day by one person.
Informal markets remain open for now.
Commuter services remain open but will be subject to further measures such as screening etc (will be announced later).
Ban on all meetings of more than 50 people.
Increased effort to track down person who have been in close contact with infected persons.
