How a Ben 10 scammed Granny R400,000 after pampering her with sex
A Birtish lonely granny is counting her financial and emotional losses after the was conned £18,000 by a Ghanaian Ben 10 boyfriend.
Beth Haining a retired probation officer fell for Rodney Cudjoe, a then 30 year old Ghanaian musician.
Haining said she has been a stupid woman who should have done better under the circumstances as she used to laugh at other women who fell for these toyboys from Africa.
The two met and chatted online sometime in 2014 before she flew to Ghana’s capital Accra to meet her young boyfriend.
Before she could understand what she was getting herself into, Rodney proposed her in the presence of his friends and she couldn’t say no.
He quickly arranged a surprise wedding and their relationship was solemnised despite disapproval from Beth’s children.
Beth narrates her story:
‘I was a bit lonely as my sister Gaynor had passed on a couple of years earlier and my mother had been diagnosed with dementia but he was very friendly and chatty. We got on well.’
‘So we met and started chatting online as friends.
‘I thought we were friends, but he started saying I had nice hair and he couldn’t wait to touch it,’
‘We saw each other’s pictures and we started flirting. He asked to borrow some money for his studio equipment as he was waiting for a cheque to come through.
‘It was just £200 so I did, he did not pay it back as promised and borrowed me another £2,000 and promised that we would share the profits from his shows.
‘We agreed to meet in Ghana and i bought my tickets and headed for Accra.’
‘He picked me up at the airport and gave me a peck on the cheek, but in the car, he gave me a full-on kiss which gave me butterflies,‘ Beth said.
‘I realised then we weren’t just going to be friends and that night we had sex.
‘We had sex in the morning, lunch time and evening everyday, three times a day.
‘We spent all our time together, eating out and drinking, meeting all his friends. He always had his arm around me and was kissing me. He couldn’t do enough for me.’
‘He asked me to marry him four or five times but i denied as i did not know him well.
He proposed me just a week before i was about to leave Ghana while on stage.
‘He said he wanted to spend his life with me and had arranged a surprise wedding for five days later on 7 October, 2015, the day before I was due to fly home.
‘All his friends were there and they were clapping and cheering. I didn’t feel like I could say no,’
‘I loved him but I thought it was too soon to get married.
‘I called my children who told me not to do it. They said he was too young and I didn’t know him, but I thought it was love.’
‘I bought a green wedding dress and asked my neighbour to send my divorce papers for a wedding that ended in the 1970s.
‘ I realised he had lied to be as he was not 40 but 30 years old.
‘It was alarming but too late for me to change plans.
‘I went back to Britain and paid 3000 pounds for Rodney’s visa.
‘It was approved in 2017 and he came to my house.
‘I was so happy to see him but he was a changed person.
‘I had some money from my pension and l was also a consultant and i asked him to work at a factory where i found a job for him.
‘He was sending all the money to his home country to buy studio equipment while i was the only one buying food and paying bills.
‘He said he wanted kids, and i obviously could bear anymore and he said there was no point of having sex, so we had it once a year.
‘He didn’t stop at complaining from food to weather.
‘He didn’t want to do any work in the house, he said i was supposed to do it as the wife.
‘We once went to a dinner with friends and he told them he had three swimming pools at his house in Ghana, when infact it was just a fish pond. I hated to hear him lie.
‘I realised i had to end the marriage, despite him begging for another chance as his visa was about to expire.
‘I changed locks for the front door only to hear a knock at the door, and it was the police coming to arrest me as he had lied that i physically abused him.
‘Im now waiting for my divorce and it will cost me £1,400 so far, but i have changed my name back to Haining.
‘I hope other women will learn from my mistakes.’
