Arthur Mafokate approaches court to claim ex girlfriend Cici’s fortune
Musician and record producer Arthur Mafokate and ex-girlfriend Cici are at loggerheads again with the former approaching the Joburg High Court to get an order that gives him right to his ex’s fortune.
The two artists, who opened counter claims against each other two years ago, will be headed to court again after the King of Kwaito instructed his lawyers Werkmans Attorneys to file a case two weeks ago
Mafokate claims Cici signed with his 999 Record Label in May 2016, giving his company exclusive rights to record and market her music for a period of two years with an optional additional year. Cici approached his ex’s company as she wanted to move on from the record label and an agreement was struck.
The agreement entailed Mafokate’s record label would own the copyright and or intellectual property of the music Cici released with his company and will have exclusive publishing rights to all her future music.
The agreement also stated that 999 Music would have a six percent claim to gross revenue if Cici produced and published music with a rival record label. The label would also have a further six percent override claim on three albums released by Cici within a period of three years from the time she left Mafokate’s label.
Lolo’s company would further be entitled to a 12% override royalty for her gigs or for the songs she produces or composes.
Mafokate also said his record label was further entitled to 10% override fee on all sponsorships the award winning songstress would sign, as well as revenue that she would receive from live performances. In the event that she enters into a joint venture with a third party, 999 Music would get eighteen percent of the net revenue received by the agent and these amounts must be paid before the conclusion of any deal with a third party.

The King of Kwaito stated that his ex-girlfriend concluded an agreement and signed for Ambitiouz Records without notifying his company.
Cici went on to release a successful album, Busisiwe, and at least eight more singles recorded and marketed by Ambitiouz Entertainment. Mafokate estimates that Cici’s album grossed at R1 million.
999 Music has not received a cent from Cici, Mafokate claims.
According to Sunday World Cici’s sister Sannah said Mafokate will be furnished with the songbird’s financial records to determine how much she made.
