Gender Commission To Investigate Mbuyiseni Ndlozi
The EFF’s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has been reported to the Commission for Gender Equality.
Ndlozi recently came under fire for his tweet defending the harassment of an eNCA journalist Nobesuthu Hejana, as she reported on a protest against Clicks during the recent hair advert controversy.
Ndlozi said that simply touching a woman was not harassment after a clip made rounds on social media of EFF members pushing the female journalist.
On Friday evening, the CGE released a statement on Friday saying it had obtained a formal complaint and will be doing a full investigation to uncover if there are any gender-related issues.
CGE spokesperson Javu Baloyi said that the complaint was because of an alleged comment made by Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi on Twitter.
The commission noted that Ndlozi apologised for his tweet, admitting it was irresponsible and gave licence to violence against women.
When I wrote: “Merely touching her is not Harassment”
It was an irresponsible tweet, giving license to the violent treatment of women. It was also hurtful & made many who‘v suffered violence relive this pain
I apologize & receive all the robust rebuke you all gave me with love!

Ndlozi made the comment as a clip of an eNCA journalist Nobesuthu Hejana showed her being pushed around by men as she was reporting on the situation outside a Clicks store in Cape Town on 8 September 2020.
EFF’s Julius Malema recently offered support to the jailed ANC councilor Andile Lungisa. Andile Lungisa was caught on camera assaulting a Democratic Alliance official during a sitting of the Nelson Mandela Bay council in 2016.
Nevertheless, some people feel that he is in prison not due to his crime but because he was a firm supporter of the ‘wrong’ ANC comrades. #FreeAndileLungisa trended on Friday morning just hours after Lungisa arrived to begin serving his two-year sentence for the assault.
Those who were supportive of his release claimed that party members loyal to President Cyril Ramaphosa had pushed for Lungisa’s imprisonment.
