A nurse who had visited Zimbabwe has tested positive in New Zealand.
Heritage Lifecare Group chief executive Norah Barlow confirmed the worker had returned from Zimbabwe on March 10 and due to there being no travel restrictions or self-isolation rules in place, she returned to work on March 15 for her night shift.
Barlow said the worker then phoned her manager and advised that she had a headache. She was told to stay home and seek medical advice, which she did. She was tested for Covid-19 and her results came back positive yesterday.
There are chances that the woman could have contracted Corona virus on her way to Zimbabwe, in Zimbabwe or during her trip to New Zealand. Zimbabwe citizens are worried about the number of Corona Virus cases that are being discovered after patients leave Zimbabwe for another country. Quite recently a traveler visited Victoria Falls but tested positive upon arrival in the United Kingdom. The effectiveness of the Corona Virus testing process and methods in Zimbabwe are brought in to question. Zimbabwe currently have 2 confirmed cases of Corona Virus.
