ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule Calls Zimbabwe A Province
ANC secretary–general Ace Magashule has called South Africa’s northern neighbour Zimbabwe a province.
He said this during an interview with the SABC after arriving from a fact-finding mission in Zimbabwe.
Magashule led an ANC delegation to Zimbabwe where they held a meeting with the ruling Zanu PF.
When asked why the ANC delegation failed to meet other stakeholders Magashule said, “In terms of meeting other stakeholders and other political parties because of time we have agreed that we go back or they will come to us. Give us two to three weeks because we have communicated with them that we are definitely going to be there and we have communicated such an interaction with all of them, we have informed Zanu PF and there is no problem about that.”
Magashule responded that Zanu PF did not have any problems with the ANC delegation meeting other stakeholders and political parties. He also rubbished reports that the first delegation comprising of Baleka Mbete and Syndey Mufamadi, were barred from meeting the opposition.
He said the next ANC delegation will meet with all stakeholders adding that South Africa needs peace and stability in that province.
“This was a lovely meeting, very candid, frank, robust, open and Zanu PF did not have any problem for us to meet with other political parties as well as other stakeholders. That’s why we are saying we pick it up from you guys to say they don’t want us to. No, they have never prevented us from doing so. Our agreement is that we gonna come back, we gonna go there and we will arrange the meeting. The meeting is not arranged by Zanu PF. So those other stakeholders, those other political parties, we are going to meet them so that we are able to bring back the people of Zimbabwe recognising they are coming from recent elections and we need peace and stability in that province,” he said.
