Rapulana was born on the 4th of November in 1967. He was born in the small town of Meadowlands in South Africa. This is the same place he grew up with his siblings.
Educational Background
He attended Texas A&N University where he attained a Bachelor of Arts degree. Before this he had gone to Anchor Comprehensive High School in Soweto.
Career
Rapulana has a multitude of accolades beneath his belt. He starred in the soapie Isidingo for three years (1998-2001) and Highjack Stories (2000). Rapulana was also in a film directed by Oliver Schmidt which received an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2001. He had a lead role in Akin Omotoso’s God is African. He played the role of John Dube in the Oscar-winning movie Tsotsi, directed by Gavin van den Bergh. Tsotsi won the Oscar award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2006.
Rapulana has directed several stage productions including Athol Fugard’s Master Harold and the Boys (at the Market Theatre in 1998) and Five Past Two at the Sibikwa Community Theatre (1996). He won the 2002 Duku Duku Award in the category Best Actor in a Soapie, for his portrayal of Tau Mogale in Generations. In 2006 he was cast in the role of Pheko Mokoena, on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango. He was also a producer on the SABC1 drama series Mzansi. In 2007 he appeared in the South African film Jerusalema, which was released in October. He was also a judge on the SABC1 reality competition television series Class Act, since 2010. Then he went on to host the SABC1 reality game show Ambush, in 2010.
In recent years fans were heart broken when they found out that he was leaving his role on Generations: The Legacy. He had to leave the show for greener pastures in the form of Mzansi’s soapie The Queen. However his departure had its fair share of as he still had a contractual obligation of another year. After a few hiccups he managed to sort it out. He joined the queen as Hector Sechaba a high-ranking police colonel with a penchant for the narcotics trade and father to Mpho Sebata played by Ntando Duma.

Rapulana was involved in a car accident in 2016. Three people died and three others were were badly injured. It is said that Rapulana was hijacked at a stop light but he refused to yield to his said captors. In true movie style he accelerated with the captors in the car and it resulted in the fatal collision. He was facing charges of two counts of murder and attempted murder. Rapulana was pardoned. He recovered successfully after series of treatments.
