Zanu PF has responded to reports that the party’s national chairperson Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri has tested positive for COVID-19.
The response follows allegations that Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri who is also Zimbabwe’s Minister of Defence had tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier on Tuesday, Savanna News reported that Tongai Mnangagwa had tested positive for COVID-19.
In a tweet from its official Twitter account, Zanu PF said reports that Muchinguri-Kashiri had tested positive for COVID-19 are false and misleading.
Zanu PF said, “The Party has noted misleading social media reports that Party Chairman Cde OCZ Muchinguri-Kashiri has tested positive to Covid-19. Let it be known that this is not only false but misleading. While this pandemic is merciless with no regard to age nor rank, Cde OCZ is healthy, doing her duty in the Covid-19 National Taskforce in fulfillment of the mandate given by HE President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Speaking this morning, Cde Muchinguri implored Zimbabweans to continue to take the measures put in place seriously so that their lives are saved.”

Last month, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri’s daughter Tanya Rozina Rushesha revealed that she struggled with Covid-19 but she recovered.
She said that it was such a scary time for her. Although she didn’t reveal how she contracted the virus, she said she got unconditional support from her family through her struggle.

I m grateful to everyone who was there for me I acted like a warrior but inside I was scared… thank you thank you thank you.. Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri is famous for claiming that coronavirus was God’s punishment to the Western countries for imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe.
That was before it had become prevalent in the country and there were barely any cases that were registered in the country.
At the time Oppah said:
Coronavirus is the work of God punishing countries that imposed sanctions on us. They are now keeping indoors. Their economies are screaming just like they did to ours. Trump should know that he is not God.
