Sun El Musician was born on the 28th of March 1989 in KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. He resided in KwaZulu Natal for several years up to the time he went to university. Sadly, Sanele dropped out of University after failing his first year, he claims he didn’t know what he was studying. Afterwards, he moved to Johannesburg to pursue his musical career. As a result of his relocation to Johannesburg, he was able to network and connect with a huge clientele.
How did Sun El Musician learn to mix?
Similar to most DJs, Sun El Musician, during his time at KwaZulu Natal University, he saw DJ Tira performing and was inspired to do the same. Later on, he found a trial version of Fruit Loops and started creating beats and mixing other songs with virtual DJ. Soon, he was good at mixing music as well as producing beats. Therefore, he made a demo and gave it to Demor Sikhosana who instantly liked his sound. Consequently, he was signed to Demor Music. Demor Sikhosana is famous for being part of the Shana collective with Black Coffee and Shota.
When did Sun El Musician get a break through?
After being signed by Demor, Sun El Musician produced three spectacular tracks for Bucie’s fourth album (Princess of House). The tracks were, ‘Hard to get, Induku enhle and midnight. Later on, he left Demor’s record label and started working with Samthing Soweto in makeshift studios with faulty equipment that could not even filter noise. After a while, Sanele’s brother convinced him to redo a beat he had produced several months back. Sanele gave it a retry and sent it to Samthing Soweto who called it a hit. On the 21st of May 2017, Sun El Musician released ‘Akanamali’ and it elevated his career to another level. Due to the tremendous success of Akanamali, Sun El Musician was encouraged to produce more hits.

Sun El Musician Music
Akanamali was the debut single for Sun El Musician but it was later on included in his debut album ‘Africa To The World’. The album was released on the 28th of April 2018 and had a warm reception. Included in the albums, were hits such as ‘Ntaba zikude, Sonini, Sengimoja and Bamthathile. The album included the vocals of stars such as Simmy, Samthing Soweto, Desire Dwason and S-Tone. This was a jam packed album and it won, Best Album, The Highest Airplay and Best Collaboration. Furthermore, Sun El Musician released other singles such as ‘Into ngawe’ featuring Ami Faku and ‘Incimbi’ featuring Mthunzi. Currently, he is working on his long awaited Double Disc album to be released mid 2020.
