North West COGTA MEC Mothibedi Gordon Kegakilwe dies of COVID-19, the MEC was COVID-19 positive and was admitted into hospital during the week .
North West MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs in North West, Gordon Kegakilwe is reported to have died from COVID-19.
He has died of COVID-19 related complications. The office of North West Premier, Job Mokgora has confirmed the MEC’s passing and is expected to release a statement later tonight. Kegakilwe died in hospital in the afternoon after testing positive for the coronavirus last week.
MEC Kegakilwe was admitted with COVID pneumonia yesterday afternoon at the Vryburg Private Hospital and was immediately put on oxygen; and a decision was taken in the morning to transfer him to a medical facility in Klerksdorp.
He was transported from Vryburg to Klerksdorp in an ambulance and upon arrival in Klerksdorp, he suffered a cardiac arrest and despite all the efforts by the medical personnel, he succumbed and lost his life
