eNCA worker dies from COVID-19.
eNCA announced that Michael Wilson died from COVID-19 on Monday afternoon.
Wilson was part of the channel’s graphics team and he joined the eTV brand almost two decades ago. eNCA expressed its condolences to Wilson’s family and friends.
Wilson served on flagship shows such as the eNCA news shows and the morning news edition, Sunrise.
This is the second eNCA worker to succumb to the novel coronavirus.
In May, eMedia Investments lost one of its camera operators Lungile Tom, who worked at eNCA at the company’s Cape Town office.
Tom was admitted to hospital on May 10, with COVID-19 related symptoms.

He was tested and admitted to intensive care. Lungile’s test results confirmed that he had COVID-19, and he passed away in hospital on Wednesday, May 13 in the morning.
eMedia Chief Operating Officer Antonio Lee said Lungile joined eNCA in December 2013 as an ENG Camera Operator. Before this, he worked at CNBC Africa.
President Cyril Ramaphosa mourned the death of Lungile. He said that he was saddened by Lungile’s death.
eNCA financial reporter Heidi Giokos tested positive for Covid-19 last week.
Heidi received her results days after her colleague Shahan Ramkissoon tested positive.
Heidi is the latest eNCA journalist cloistered at home because of Covid-19 after Shahan Ramkissoon and other eMedia staffers tested positive for the virus at the eNCA Hyde Park office.
Last month, eTV confirmed that positive cases of Covid-19 were recorded on two of its weekday soapies Rhythm City and Scandal!.
In a statement, the channel said both sets of the local production premises had been shut down and they were undertaking the necessary testing for exposed cast and crew members.
The channel also said sets have undergone deep cleaning to further minimize the risk of contamination, in accordance with COVID-19 protocols. Affected individuals were said to be undergoing self-isolation until the end of the stipulated 14-day period.
eTv did not reveal the names of the individuals who had tested positive for COVID-19, “in respecting the privacy of our talent’s medical and health matters”.
