Julian Stobbs who is popularly known as one half of the famous Dagga Couple that won the legal battle to legalise dagga or cannabis was killed in an armed robbery incident in the early hours of today.
Stobbs was shot dead at a home they shared with her partner Myrtle Clarke near Lanseria in Johannesburg.

The robbers reportedly entered the house they they also used as premises to operate a private club and proceeded to shoot Stobbs from her bed before making out with their cellphones and other valuables.
Tributes poured to the famous couple from saddened South Africans after the news broke out.
Stobbs and Clarke rose to prominence after their arrest in 2010 for possessing and dealing in drugs. They aged a five year battle with the state to have dagga legalised. They persevered and eventually won after initially losing at the High Court in 2013. The couple emerged victors at the Constitutional Court.

The dagga couple started a Non-Profit Organisation Fields of Green For All to advance drug policy reform focused on the use of cannabis and related products.
Their battle led to the eventual legalisation of cannabis for personal use in 2018.
